The Crest of an E-Wave
Technology is one of the magnificent powerful word that has been created by humans not long time ago. As how we know in history, Alexander or Genghis Khan went around the world to conquer in search of power, now I believe technology has taken over their place in this era. Well, I am sure you be wondering, “Is technology conquering us or we are embracing it” ?. The word "conquer" itself has shown us that it is something that taking over us without our liking. This statement applies for some teachers who feel that the emergence of technology in our world is seen as burden . Why is it so? Well, the answer lies in this word "lazy". Some teachers believe that technology makes life easier which eventually make the teachers and the students to be lazy. In just a click of a mouse, everything in our finger tips, so where is the hardship of learning that we have been practicing since the olden days? Basically, these are the questions and the debates going around between the techno savvy teachers and the "technocapped" teachers. If you look in the perspective of the techno savvy teachers they would claim; technology has made teachers work to be handier and the lesson to be more interesting without boredom. As the arguments goes on and on, without we realizing everything around us were slowly manipulated by technology. For instance, nowadays there are no more chalk and talk business. From carving on the wall of a cave, wood, clay to writing using coal, chalk, marker pen and now writing using smart board. Wow, just look at the flow of the development due to the evolution of technology. The technology has served us a lot especially for me as a student I never know that one day I will eventually learn how to create a blog. Hence, technology has given me an identity in the world of networking. I still remember during my father's day’s books, newspapers and worst come to worst encyclopedia were the only resources for the students to refer. But now, through the invention that brought by technology the world of education has broadened. Just look how convenient students’ life nowadays; the whole entire knowledge of the world can be seen through the monitor. Now, let us wind back to our era of primary education. During the olden days, teachers suffered because of the dust caused by the chalk and students carried tonnes and tonnes of heavy books which were heavier than themselves. The situation even had turned worst when teachers lost their voice due to straining their voice to address a large assembly of students while students who were sitting behind were not able to see clearly the white board as the board was too small. Now, all these problems have been solved with technology. For instances, smart board will be able to solve problem caused by chalk while thumb drive, CD, DVD, internet reduce the amount of books carried by the students. Besides, the usage of microphone helps the teachers not to strain their voice and finally the LCD projector helps the students to see clearly what has been taught to them. The usage of technology also can help the teachers to manage classroom as the learning would be more fun and attractive. How is this possible? Well, let us open up our mind and think about these questions; “Can a cat dislike eating fish? or “Can a bear dislike eating honey?” .Basically the same thing goes to children; “Can children resist the fun of learning through animation”? . Children usually felt excited when they were given to watch animated programmes. Thus from here, we could see that technology actually had help the students to enjoy their learning as well as understand the subject being thought to them better. Through technology everything seems to be versatile to us and we could see there is a drastic improvement on the students’ involvement in the classroom. For example, teaching English in classroom will be more efficient through the usage of internet. I myself as a student had a good experience in writing this blog as it really had helped me to improve my language proficiency as well as enrich my vocabularies. So basically technology can give a massive impact on the students’ improvement. It is very clear nowadays whether we like it or not, we can’t run way from the spellbound word called "technology".
